The Continued Depravity of Our Time

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20, KJV

I am writing this on the heels of the blog post I have just shared. When I read through that post, I could not shake the feeling that there was more that needed to be said. In an effort to draw out what that might be, I went and visited the website for the #shoutyourabortion! movement, and was not disappointed. (https://shoutyourabortion.com/#the-movement) There they were, happily showing me what more needed to be said.

I’ll begin with a statement made right on the website, “Abortion is normal. Our stories are ours to tell. This is not a debate.” Let’s take a moment and just unpack that one statement, shall we?

First, the overall tone is one of defiance and a bit of fear. The person who came up with this line was seeking to create a rallying cry, a statement that everyone could rally behind, and find courage in the idea that there is strength in numbers. Anyone familiar with Texas history would know what this is, given that the forces under Santa Ana were defeated under the rallying cry of, “Remember the Alamo! Remember Goliad!”.

Used properly, these cries become an amazingly unifying force, even bringing rivals together to fight for a common goal. For Pro-Lifers, one example would be, “End Abortion Now”, and it’s a statement I stand firmly behind. This statement is one that Pro-Lifers of many stripes can get behind, whether they are Christian, Jew, or Atheist, it is a shared goal.

When used incorrectly, you have examples like this, in which people are being asked to stand behind something so morally reprehensible that it brings to mind Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, and Communist China. In other words, it brings to mind mass-murder and genocide, all of which Hitler, Stalin, and Mao worked very hard to justify through some of the same means.

Since the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade, estimates show that there have been an excess of 60 million abortions performed in the U.S.; a number that doesn’t take into account the number of chemically induced abortions. That is a number that Pharmacists for Life International estimates to be roughly 250 million! (http://www.pfli.org, and http://checkyourfact.com/2018/07/03/fact-check-60-million-abortions/)

When those figures are combined, that number reaches an astonishing 310 million abortions! For comparison, the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that our current population is somewhere north of 321 million people, with a difference of approximately 11 million people! Try to wrap your head around that, 310 million babies killed! That is a number that is comparable to the entire population of our country!

This number actually dwarfs the number of people murdered by their own governments, an act known as Democide, in the 20th Century! Estimates place the total number killed by the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pohl Pot, and Castro at approximately 120 million, and our nation alone has managed to eclipse that number by nearly 100 million people! Good Lord, forgive us for sitting on our hands and allowing the slaughter of innocents to take place right under our own noses.

Next, we tackle the statement, “Abortion is normal”. Really? Well, if it were actually normal, then they would not have felt the need to make such a statement. In effect, they are saying that murder is normal. Abortion is murder, so their logic dictates that murder is normal, right? When last I checked, there is nothing normal about murder, and this certainly does not change this fact.

According to Embryology texts, each zygote produced at the moment of conception is a unique and individual human being, separate and genetically distinct. Thus, the Pro-Life assertion that an embryo, or a fetus, is a human being is a position backed by both the Bible, and science. Taken together, that can be counted as a certainty.

Now, Merriam-Webster defines murder as, “the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought.” The Bible holds a similar definition, in that one must be justified in the taking of a human life, or else it is murder. In Exodus 20:13, for example, there is the clear command to not commit murder. The word used, ratzak (Strong’s H7523), translates as “murder”.

Taking both points and bringing them together, we can show that:

1. Unborn children are in fact human beings, and deserving of human rights, by extension.

2. That murder is the unjustified taking of a human life. As no one can come up with any form of legal or moral justification for an abortion, then abortion is murder.

3. That our civilization, when you count up the number of all abortions carried out in all Western nations since the first time a nation decriminalized abortion, is guilty of facilitating and/or carrying out the worst campaign of mass-murder in history; to the tune of hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people murdered.

More than 300 million in our nation alone, and that is only an estimate. What makes it worse is that our birth rate is already in the basement. In order to maintain a viable population, as well as to maintain our cultural integrity, there is a hard minimum of children born per woman, and we are falling far short of it.

For a developed country, that number is 2.1, according to the NIH. The NIH also states that the birth rate in our country is presently 1.74 for native born Americans. At this point, our saving grace is immigration from countries with traditionally higher birth rates than ours, as they are making up for our shortfall. What this means is that native-born people in this country stand a very good chance at being completely replaced in the foreseeable future. This is not a racial thing, either. It applies all across the board, white, black, asian, Native, etc.

Next, the assertion that their stories are theirs to tell. Well, I can hardly argue with this point. They say that confession is good for the soul, and telling one’s story can be a form of confession if they have committed a crime. As these women are guilty of murdering their own children, telling their stories could count as a confession.

I’m sure God is all ears, so let it out. Confess your sins to the Lord, repent before Him, and change your life. Oh, you are proud of what you did? Well, that counts as a whole other matter, does it not? He has had no small amount to say about the unrepentant, and it does not bode well for the people in this movement.

Finally, we come to “This is not a debate”. When someone is holding a position they absolutely believe in 100%, they will not worry a moment over a challenge to their position. For example, if you were to read back through my posts, you will note that I not only invite dissenting voices, but pledge to respond to critics first. Why? I am not afraid of being wrong, and am 100% convinced of my position.

Contrast this with the statement found on this website. They do not wish to discuss or debate, which leads one to wonder if they are not aware on some level that they are 100% wrong. Only pride and/or shame would make someone hide from Truth, which is why pride is the deadliest of sins. For the people in this movement, can anyone guess which motivator is the driving force behind their unwillingness to hear a single dissenting voice?

Reblog: Why The #ShoutYourAbortion Movement Is Total Garbage (Avid Pro-Lifer) — The Imperfect Momma

Here is a post I came across yesterday, from Holly Marsh over at Imperfect Momma. It’s well-written and thought out. Pop on over, check out the post, and pay close attention to what she has to say. This #shoutyourabortion! movement is something we need to address because they are trying to convince people that murdering your pre-born babies is acceptable and desirable. Give her post a read, and find ways to combat these people and their ghoulish message! Thank you.

Estimated Reading Time: 14 Minutes Thank you #shoutyourabortion! Your movement has made it cool to have an abortion, something to be “proud” of because having an abortion is progressive and brave (apparently).

Nightmares are Dreams, Too

I am not angry, I am furious. Here we are, scarcely two months into the new year, and I am already beyond horrified. How can we, as a supposedly civilized society, ever come under the mistaken impression that the wanton slaughter of unborn babies is somehow acceptable? Granted, we have been doing it for some time, but this is the closest we have come towards actually legalizing infanticide, and some are already pushing for that as well. (https://jme.bmj.com/content/39/5/261.full) How can we, as a supposedly civilized society, be able to justify before our God and our own conscience the horrendous mass-murder of our most helpless members as a common good? As I have stated before, abortion is murder, and this is just seeking to make things worse

Unless you have been under a rock this whole time, you are most likely aware of the bill recently passed in New York state, which makes abortion legal all the way up to the moment of birth, removes restrictions on who can perform an abortion, and also does away with their Fetal Victim laws, removing legal protections for all unborn babies. Note that that ghoul of a governor, Andrew Cuomo, actually lit up the 9-11 memorial pink in celebration of the passage of this bill. (It brings to mind the fact that Hitler’s horrific crimes began with thunderous applause and roars of approval)

Not only has Gov. Cuomo done this, but he has done this in direct contravention of his own supposed Catholic faith. Yes, the Catholic Church’s official doctrinal position is that life begins at conception, and is worthy of all of the protections and rights contained therein, which means that they regard abortion as immoral and unacceptable. Whether you are Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant, you ought to be able recognize when someone has chosen to follow the world instead of their God.

Yet, Gov. Cuomo seems to think he knows better than his own Church. Sadly, the Cardinal responsible for him (Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York) has very little he can do, given that excommunication is only used in cases where it might bring about a change of heart, and it’s clear that Gov. Cuomo simply has none. What is the point of excommunication if it will not have the desired effect?

Historically speaking, infanticide was an accepted practice amongst even the most civilized of nations. The Greeks, Romans, nearly everyone practiced it; even on this side of the globe it was practiced by many of the Native tribes. It wasn’t unheard of for people to abandon their unwanted babies to the elements. They regarded it as an act of mercy!

When Christianity began to appear, one of the things Christians were known for was the practice of rescuing abandoned newborns and raising them as their own. These people would go out at night, seek out the babies that their pagan neighbors had tossed out with the trash, and give them loving homes in the arms of parents who would bring them up knowing and loving the Lord Jesus Christ. Where the worst of humanity was on full display, there were the Christians to show the best of God’s qualities and nature.

This brings up an essential question. What happened? In a time when Christians were being persecuted, hunted, and discriminated against, they were showing what it looks like to be led by the Spirit of God. Now, too many professing Christians seem content to sit on their hands and do nothing, if not outright support the mass slaughter of babies that their ancestors would have died trying to protect! Shame on them, shame on us all. How dare we consider ourselves civilized and Children of God when there are those amongst us who tarnish and mar the image of God, turning us into a mindless caricature of what we are supposed to be?! This is what we are commanded to fight against, and we have a collective case of “cat got your tongue”?!

We are commanded, COMMANDED, by the Lord, to speak up for the poor, the oppressed, and to protect the innocent from the wicked! We are directly commanded to defend the innocent from slaughter, and we have people today who claim the mantle of Christian, celebrating new laws that make it easier to do exactly what we ought to be fighting against! How dare we?!

The politicians who passed this law, and any others like it (currently being considered in Vermont and Virginia), have hands dripping in innocent blood. Those celebrating along with them, supporting this effort, have hands dripping in innocent blood, too. They are no better than people like Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. They are mass-murdering, genocidal maniacs, and the people of their states gave them a job! As if that was not bad enough, they will likely do it again when next these monsters are up for reelection.

In all, I am reminded of something Thomas Jefferson said, “I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.” Words cannot express how true these words are, and how much we have to answer for as a people.

Let’s Call it What it is: Murder

Introduction

Fewer topics have caused more controversy, debate, and/or vitriol than the topic of abortion. Whether you are pro-choice, or pro-life, it is a fair bet that you have very strong feelings about it, and you probably aren’t very shy about sharing them.

As I have stated before, I am pro-life. In this post, my intention is to present my side of the topic, my own personal corner of the war of words that is known as the abortion debate.

As always, if you are thin-skinned and need a safe space when faced with opposition, you are likely going to be very unhappy in the next few minutes. Please note that I do not care, as I will be using strong, politically incorrect language throughout this post. I refuse to sugarcoat things, folks.

Before I go any further, allow me the opportunity to knock aside one common argument; that is the idea that my gender somehow precludes me from expressing an opinion on this topic. If that’s your argument, move on. I have neither the time, patience, or inclination for such nonsense.

The truth is, at conception, a human child is a 50/50 mix of their parent’s genetics. That means that both mother and father contribute equally to that child’s genetic makeup. As such, barring any mitigating circumstances, they should both have an equal say in the future of that child. (To all feminists, sorry, not sorry)

As this post continues, I will be presenting my reasoned arguments in support of the pro-life movement. My hope is that you, the reader, will take something away from this.

As always, I happily invite open dissent into my comment section. If you disagree with me on any, or all points, I most definitely want to hear from you. In fact, I will reply to dissenting comments first. Without further ado, I present my argument against abortion.

My Conclusion

I will be as succinct as I can be, abortion is not just murder, it is the willful and deliberate shedding of innocent blood, and an utter abomination. It is disgusting, horrifying, and inhumane. What’s more, those who support and encourage the practice are guilty of being complicit in a decades-long campaign of mass-murder that has claimed the lives of millions of the most vulnerable and defenseless members of our species. Tragedy is not a strong enough word to describe it, not by a long shot.

That those who support this practice are absolutely horrible human beings is without question, in much the same way as the people living close enough to Auschwitz were horrible human beings; in other words, they knew what was going on, but chose to keep silent. Silence is compliance, people. However, it goes beyond that. None of this addresses the people who actively participate in this bloodbath.

I am, of course, referring to the mothers, Doctors, Nurses, Medical Assistants, receptionists, everyone. This list even includes the construction crews who built, maintain, and renovate/remodel the facilities used to perform abortions. All of these people have blood on their hands, and darkness in their heart’s. They have, in effect, completely abandoned their humanity.

By now, I am sure some are looking at this, and seeing the usual “anti-choice” vitriol, and they would be right. However, there is always more to the story. What I have presented, thus far, is my conclusions. From here on out, it is time to present the “why” of those conclusions. As I am a Christian, I’ll start with the document that is the most important to me: the Bible.

Scriptural Justification

Motivation Matters

In Amos 1:13, we find, “Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border.” In other words, He took issue with their greed, violence, and their wanton shedding of innocent blood.

We must see to the defenseless

In Phillipians 2:4, “Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” We are commanded to look out for each other, to care for one another. This is important because we often face harsh criticism when we speak out against evil.

Similarly, we are also commanded to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Proverbs 31:8, “Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.”

According to the Barnes’ Notes commentaries, Proverbs 31:8 says, “In contrast with the two besetting sins of Eastern monarchs stands their one great duty, to give help to those who had no other helper.

Such as are appointed to destruction- literally, “children of bereavement”, with the sense, either, as in the text, of those “destined to be bereaved of life or goods”, or “bereaved or fatherless children”.” In other words, we are obligated to speak out for those who do not have a voice, regardless of how we personally feel. It is mandated by God.

The unborn are people, too

In the Book of Exodus, God directly confers personhood on unborn children when He says, “If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,

24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.” Exodus 21:22-25

What this means is, if two men are fighting, and they accidentally manage to injure a pregnant woman during the fight, thereby causing her to go into labor, then they are liable to her husband.

If the baby comes, and is uninjured, then the one who hurts the woman takes whichever punishment her husband decrees. However, if harm does come to the unborn child, then the perpetrator will suffer the exact same injury, even unto death. This is where personhood is conferred.

If that child were not considered a human, then the punishments involved would likely have been monetary. Yet, the full weight of the law is called upon anyone who causes harm to an unborn child, even if it means executing the perpetrator as one would do for murder.

Similarly, Psalm 139:13-15 continues the theme of personhood, “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.”

The going theme is that not a one of us was made without God’s knowledge.

Consciousness of the Unborn

Many might not know that John the Baptist was also Jesus’ cousin. The story of John the Baptist goes a long way towards establishing that unborn babies are conscious. “And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.” Luke 1:41-44

Children a Reward From God

Each child born is a blessing, regardless of the circumstance. Psalm 127:3-5, “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.”

Does this mean that children won’t be born into awful circumstances? Absolutely not. However, we as a society should do what we can to mitigate that.

Scientific Justification

Some on the pro-choice side of the argument like to claim that science has settled the issue, and an embryo is nothing more than an unconscious clump of cells without any value but that which is given by the mother. (See the phenomenon of Fetal Victim Laws) I have had pro-choice supporters tell me that a human embryo is not alive and not a human. Thankfully, Embryology texts teach different.

For example, “Although life is a continuous process, fertilization (which, incidentally is not a “moment”) is a critical landmark because, under ordinary circumstances, a new, genetically distinct human organism is formed when the chromosomes of the male and female pronuclei blend in the oocyte.” -O’Rahilly and Müller, “Human Embryology and Teratology”, 3rd Ed., 8

Note that the phrasing is “genetically distinct human organism”. This means that each and every baby is a genetically distinct human. Are they completely dependent upon their mother’s body for their existence? Yes, but this does not mean that they are part of their mother.

At no point does the mother have four hands, four feet, two heads, two brains, etc. This means that the baby is an individual growing inside their mother.

This is further borne out by Dr. Bradley Patton, in “Human Embryology”, 3rd Ed., when he states, “The formation, maturation and meeting of a male and female sex cell are all preliminary to their actual union into a combined cell, or zygote, which definitely marks the beginning of a new individual.”

Even some on the pro-choice side have admitted that an unborn human child is in fact a human being. For example, David Boonin in “A Defense of Abortion” writes, “Perhaps the most straightforward relation between you and me on the one hand and every human fetus on the other is this: All are living members of the same species, homo sapiens. A human fetus after all is simply a human being at a very early stage in his or her development.”

In “Common Ground and Uncommon Conversations”, Stephen Wagner makes my next point very plain. “Why are sexism and racism wrong? Isn’t it because they pick out a surface difference (gender or skin color) and ignore the underlying similarity all of us share? We should treat women and men, African-Americans and Whites, as equal and protect them from discrimination. Why? Because they all have a human nature. But if the unborn also has that same human nature, shouldn’t we protect her as well?”

Legal Justification

Allow me to begin by stating unequivocally that I am most certainly not an attorney. However, a law degree isn’t required for this part; just a conscience and the ability to read, reason, and comprehend.

The online legal dictionary at Law.com defines murder as, “the killing of a human being by a sane person, with intent, malice aforethought (prior intention to kill the particular victim or anyone who gets in the way) and with no legal excuse or authority.” In other words, for it to be murder, one must make a conscious decision to end the life of another human being.

As I have previously established, an unborn child is a human being in the eyes of both science and the Bible. As such, they are entitled to the full protection of the law. This means anyone who kills an unborn baby is a murderer, and those who help in any way are accessories.

This includes the people I mentioned at the beginning, from the construction workers to the receptionists, to the medical staff carrying out the abortions. All are guilty, and all have innocent blood on their hands.

When it comes down to it, no matter how you try to look at it from different angles, murder is murder. When someone commits murder in our country, they are punished to the fullest extent of the law. That is, unless the human they murder happens to be an unborn child in a medical facility.
